And this Father’s Day, we had the joy of celebrating the incredible dads in our community at both our Downtown Mission and Angeles House.
At Angeles House, we’re especially grateful to our friends at Herbalife for helping make the day extra special. They provided nutritious morning shakes, a delicious catered lunch, and gifts — including soft new bathrobes — that offered comfort, dignity, and care. The men felt truly seen and supported.
At our Downtown Mission, we gathered on the rooftop for a joyful celebration filled with great food, fellowship, and hope. Thanks to the hard work of our staff, apprentices, and guest volunteers, each dad received a gift bag with Lakers gear, a water tumbler, t-shirt, body wash, and more.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible kitchen team for serving up a delicious feast — BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, sweet corn, fresh salad, and warm bread pudding to top it off. And no meal is complete without Mama Reina’s famous homemade aguas frescas — truly the perfect finishing touch!
As I shared that day, no matter our past, redemption is always possible — because we have a Heavenly Father who meets us with love, forgiveness, and grace.
We’re grateful for the fathers we celebrated, and for all who helped make this day one of joy, dignity, and hope.
Now, summer may be heating up, but at Union Rescue Mission, we’re already getting kids ready for a strong school year—and we need your help!
Many of the children in our care lack the basics like uniforms and school supplies. You can make a difference by donating:
Uniforms in all kids’ sizes. We need:
- Tan, navy, or black khaki pants AND
- Black, white, maroon, forest green, or navy polo shirts
We also need school supplies, like: Backpacks, markers, rulers, scissors, calculators, pencil pouches & more.
Please send donations by August 1 to ensure students are ready on day one.
Let’s help every child feel confident, prepared, and loved as they head back to school.
It’s time to save that date! Over the Edge is back!
On September 26th and 27th, we’re rappelling 25 stories down from the rooftop of the Hilton Universal City Hotel to make a real impact in the fight against homelessness. Your participation makes it possible for URM to provide recovery programs, support services, education, and training opportunities that offer people in need, a safe place to begin again.
Join us to ensure unhoused families stay together and support their journey toward renewed independence, dignity, and long-term stability.
Don’t look down! Face the Edge. Fuel the Journey!
Every leap lights the way home for someone in need.
As Proverbs 19:17 tells us:
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
Thank you for sharing Christ’s love with the people who need it most.
May God bless and keep you.
