Day 31– How Do We Please the Father?
The theme shared yesterday by Jesus continues today. He does that a lot. Gives a message in a parable, and then follows it with a stronger more emphatic parable that gets our attention. What do you want to be caught doing when Jesus returns?
Matthew 24:45-51 (ESV)
“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
How do you please a parent? Be good to their children! How do you get on the receiving end of anger of a parent? Mistreat their children! How do you make a boss happy? Be good to their employees and customers! How do you find the exit door of your company? Mistreat the employees and customers! My heart won’t even let me try to describe the results pictured in verse 51, for those who end up on the receiving end of God’s justice and wrath, for mistreating their fellow men and women.
