Give lifesaving help and hope today
"Homelessness on Skid Row is an epidemic of epic proportions,” says Rev. Andy Bales, Union Rescue Mission CEO. “It is a Red Cross-like disaster."
Nearly half of all Americans sleeping on the streets live in California. On any given night, more than 58,000 people in Los Angeles county alone are devastated by homelessness. Women and children make up 40 percent of this number. Help us prevent the spread of COVID-19 to our most vulnerable neighbors.
This is the reality of the critical challenge we face. It's one tempting us to either give up and give in, or rise up and challenge back.
Union Rescue Mission is one of the nation’s largest providers of continuous emergency shelter services. Together with you, we’re providing comprehensive care for men, women, and children devastated by homelessness.

An oasis of hope on 71 acres in the foothills of Sylmar, California, Hope Gardens is a transitional housing campus offering sanctuary to single women and children who have been devastated by homelessness. We believe no child should be raised on the dangerous, unforgiving streets of Los Angeles.
Hope Gardens helps women transition from homelessness to independence within 12 to 36 months by offering long-term rehabilitation programs, services, and spiritual care.
Precious women and children have a safe place to live while they receive counseling, training, encouragement, and the real help they need to escape homelessness forever.
Your life is precious. So are theirs. And no one is ever born wanting to be devastated by homelessness.
It’s why Union Rescue Mission, located in the heart of Skid Row, stands strong as a refuge of help and hope. A safe haven where men, women, children, and families can get the guidance and support they need to live a life transformed.
