Day 34 – Serving Others
Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)
“But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
I really have to work at this, putting others first, but I do put others first. I love to serve, make people’s lives more comfortable, better. This week I treated our Senior Leadership Team to a retreat, and enjoyed preparing many of the meals for the team. If I am ever thought of as a good leader, I want it to be for my effort as a servant leader.
Jesus emphasized with His disciples the importance of looking out for others first, serving others first. Are there opportunities in your life today to put others first? Are you finding opportunities to serve others? If not, why not give it a try? Take some time and volunteer at a local mission or agency to serve a meal, share a food box, or read a book to someone who could be blessed from your service.
