Yoana stands by the side of the freeway, looking down a hill at the traffic rushing below.
She had once lived here, in a tent. Her methamphetamine and alcohol addiction had brought her to this lowest part of her life.
"I lost everything due to my addiction," she shares. "My home. My car. My job. My kids were removed from my custody, and I ended up on the street."
A friend told her she could live at his "house." Little did she know, his "house" was a tent on the side of the freeway.
Then one night, it started raining, and the tent started sliding down the hill.
"I started thinking is this what I want my kids to think of me? The drug addict mom sleeping in a tent . . . God gave me the gift of desperation . . ."
