11 YEAR OLD BRENDEN FOSTER

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14 AT UNION RESCUE MISSION

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (November 12, 2008)——On Friday, November 14, 2008 The Union Rescue Mission will serve 2,500 meals to its friends who are homeless in honor of 11 year old Brenden Foster, whose dying wish is to feed the homeless.

Each guest will also leave with a sack lunch bearing a special message of love from Brenden.

Union Rescue Mission’s CEO, Andy Bales said “Brenden! We are inspired by you. I have been working to help my friends who are homeless for 23 years, and I will for 23 more. Much love to you!”

Union Rescue Mission’s Daily Meal schedule:

* Breakfast Served – 7:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.

* Lunch Served – 12:00 Noon to 2:30 P.M.

* Dinner Served – 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Mimi’s Café & Santa Join Forces to Create “Christmas In July”
(At The Union Rescue Mission)

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (July 7, 2008)— On Wednesday, July 16, 2008 over 2O tons of snow is expected to blanket the Downtown Los Angeles Union Rescue Mission. Santa Claus will transform URM (545 South San Pedro Street) into a winter wonderland so that more than 200 homeless youngsters—who range in age from 3 to 17 can enjoy a special early Christmas celebration.

“Christmas In July” is sponsored by Mimi’s Café and will feature mountains of snow, colorful elves and dozens of gaming booths along with treats like cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and more. In addition, each child will receive a toy from Santa Claus and will also be treated to a delicious luncheon catered by Mimi’s Café.

Festivities will get underway at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in the San Julian lot located just behind the Union Rescue Mission, 545 S. San Pedro St. Los Angeles.

Union Rescue Mission’s CEO, Andy Bales, said “We want to provide some joy to our children through the refreshing and rare cool treat of a day in the snow during these hot days of summer. I can’t wait to see their faces as they throw their first snowballs ever, probably directly at me! Andy B.”
